I'm new and this is my story. I love to help when I can

Hello Beautiful People. I am new to this wonderful forum. I have had fibro for years but was finally diagnosed in the late 1990's.

I have been through all the judgement from others, treated like a drug seeker, told I was a hypochondriac,etc. I also have sever degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis among a lot of other things I can't pronounce. In June of 2011 I went in for a routine surgery to have a lymph node removed from my neck. I had excruciating pain in my right shoulder (same side surgery was done on) and could not raise my arm. My should was out of place. I went to many Neuros and Orthos. No one could figure out what was wrong. Finally a trip to Stanford and they knew exactly what it was. The Dr. that did my surgery had cut my Spinal Accessory Nerve. I had an amazing Dr. and they did a nerve transplant. They could not fix one nerve because it would have been to dangerous. So now I am okay, but it will be a problem for the rest of my life.

In 2003 I had a spontaneous spleen rupture. I lost 2/3 of my blood and had 4 transfusions. I had a Near Death Experience that was wonderful and changed my life. I am weaning off of meds, but will never be pain free. The doctor said I will have to be on pain medication the rest of my life.
I live with an average pain level of 6. It's okay, a little pain helps me to remember I'm alive. I would love to chat with others that need encouragement to keep going. I'm human so I still have those days that I just Cannot do a thing but lay around. I don't feel guilty about laying around anymore. I've been through all the anxieties (Oh yea, I have severe anxiety and depression) that fibro gives us.

Glad to hear you've come to terms on everything. It's hard to accept change for many of us, but it's better to bend with the wind.

Welcome attipay to the forum. Your medical history sounds complex. I am glad your still with us. I have had a near death experience and it does change your life. I appreciate the little things and my spiritual life has grown. I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I have. I have learned so much here. Things that I was never told by my dr's.

I hope we continue to see you around the forum. What is your treatment for fibro?

The people here are wonderful and you will get a lot of support here. I don't post a lot, but I do read almost everything. I'm sorry we have to meet under these circumstances, but I'm glad you found us.

As for my treatment....HA! I have been on many narcotic and nonnarcotic meds. When I was first diagnosed little was known so my Dr. gave me Norco. (My Doctors keep retiring so I have been referred to his or her replacement) I live in a small town in Central Ca. A friend of a friend told me about a Fibro specialist in Bakersfield which is an hour away. He put me on MANY medications the strongest being Fentynl patch 100 mgh. I really should have educated before I medicated. I completely lost my spirit. I was just existing. I had won $10K at the Indian Casino and couldn't even get excited. At the same time I was heavily medicated my mother was dying of cancer. So I believe it was a combination of depression and the medications.
I am currently on 15mg oral morphine 3 X day. It was raised to 30 mg when my shoulder was hurt. I also have Norco for breakthrough pain. (It works better for me than the morphine) I have xanax for anxiety and xanaflex for muscle spasms....then there is BP and thyroid medication. OH, and Lexapro.

I would like for all of you to know that I will never say anything snarky or negative or intentionally hurt anyone's feelings. I know that some times if a person is not is a "Good head space" (which is Often with our problems) words may be taken wrong. I am here to help and learn. Not judge or critique.
