Tramadol with Acetominophen

Hi
When I had my appt with the osteopath, he mentioned that using acetominophen with
Tramadol increases the efficacy. I happened to have a headache yesterday, so I took
Tylenol and had already taken tramadol and had a significant relief in pain. Didn't put
two and two together until today. I know I can request ultracet from my MD, but
I wondered if any of you use two separate drugs and if so, what would the dose
be for the tylenol? I take 50 mg of tramadol. I understand that none of you are doctors :)
But I thought someone might be using these together and could give me a tip?

I do that sometimes during bad flares. It does help me.

I take tramadol during the day. Hydrocodone at night(codeine and acetaminphen). I would ask the doctor for the proper dosing, since everything is so individual. Since tramadol is not an anti-inflammatory, it makes sense that there would be more pain relief when combined.

Lots of people get help on advil/aleve, but others cannot take them. They aggravate my IBD. Years ago, I was on a prescription anti-inflammatory, and taking prilosec to try to protect my stomach, which didn't work so well. These went out in a non-necessary drug purge.

I use tramadol during the day...tylenol makes me sleepy..if i need it , i take one at night...it makes sense that two drugs would be stronger than one...neither is anti inflammatory

I think the combo does help reduce my pain and neither alone did. I tried an experiment after getting the idea, and I definitely felt far less pain when I took them together.

Here is a link that explains this. If you get Ultracet, be sure to keep track of the amount of Tylenol you are taking in it and other things. It's easy to overdose on Tylenol since it's put in many different products. Become an avid label reader.

Like Sherrine said, just be careful you are not taking too much Tylenol.
I was on hydrocodone for a long time myself ( lots of knee surgeries back to back) any way I happen to be in the ER for something completely unrelated and when they did my blood work my liver enzymes were sooo off. Thank goodness they caught it. I was admitted to the hospital because my white blood cell count was extremely high as well as my liver enzymes. I was in the hospital for a week and my liver enzymes still were not w in normal range. I was scheduled for a liver biopsy and right before had blood work down and they went down! Therefore the biopsy wasn't needed. I was told to never take Tylenol again.
I'm not trying to scare anyone. Taking Tylenol as directed is fine...just necks refuel and keep track..I never did..good luck!!
