Flu shot arm pain

I do not want to debate the flu shot.

I got mine yesterday, and I think the woman hit my arm wrong. Or something. My left upper arm is still very tender and sore to the touch around the shot site. Weird. I have never had the pain last this long before.

My arm is always sore and tender for a week or more afterwards. The only time it didn't hurt was the nurse had me to hang my arm loosely by my side and relax the muscles. It worked well. The same nurse did my niece's but didn't have her relax and my niece's arm hurt for over a week.

Maybe we need to relax our arm more than others?

Mine usually hurts for around a week or so. I have found that moving it as much as possible and putting ice on it seems to help. I've been taking them for years and never had one that didn't make my arm hurt for days.

That's pretty common myself. At least it is in my family. I do believe tho some that give it have the lucky touch and no tenderness or soreness occurs. It's like potluck, you never know what you're getting lol. Hope it feels better soon my dear.

I normally have a little soreness, but not this bad! I was looking at my new Cooking Light, and the nurse and I were chatting about one of the soup recipes.

It still hurts, feels warm, and stiff. Not bad enough to worry about it, but it is noticeable.

Will not debate the flu shot either. Just please Google the flu shot insert that comes with the medication that they never show you it will change your mind. Another thing many of us fibros have a DNA gene issue called mthfr this makes somebody's unable to produce the amount of glutathione needed to detox out crap and those injections for the flu are full of toxins, which she will see if you read the insert.

I've been a nurse for 9 years and have given my fair share of shots, it definitely helps the healing process if the muscle is completely relaxed , also moving your arm around after the injection helps it from settling and causing the pain. Hopefully that will help for future reference

Just a FYI I used to get flu shots every year. Then one year I got mine and my arm was very sore. More so than previous years. It then became very warm and then red in a huge circle around where the shot went.

I had a good size knot under the shot sight. Two days later I've got a fever and feel very unwell, go to the Doctor and find out I have celluiltis in the arm around where the flu shot went.

The next year Doctor is a new one and insists that I get a shot. I tell her what happened and she won't budge on it. So I get the shot and same thing happens but much bigger this time around.

Needless, to say I no longer get any type of shots. I'm apparently allergic to what they mix the vaccine with. I can no longer have any vaccines done to me. I have NO immune system at all, and my T-cell count is lower than your average person with AIDS. Yes, I'm at risk during cold and flu season, but the celluiltis can make it really hard for me too. I know this personally, as I currently have celluiltis on my leg.

Please keep an eye on your arm. We drew a circle around the knot with a pen and took a photo of it. That way we could see if it was continued to swell. I hope that you do not have a reaction to your flu shot. I'll say a prayer for you.

There are tons of different opinions and beliefs about this. All anyone can do is make the decision for themselves, and realize that everybody IS different. For some, a potential allergic response is better than getting sick. Others would prefer to avoid, or are sensitive to, the ingredients in the dose. For even others, the flu shot is their best shot in getting through the flu season intact.

I never do the flu shot. I use vitamin D to prevent the flu. I never get the flu.

Well, this week they wanted to give me a flu shot as well as a tetanus shot (which included whooping cough). I've never had a flu shot and haven't had the flu in over 15 years, so I declined that shot.

But did go ahead with the tetanus Tuesday afternoon, by Wednesday night it was a huge swollen red hot lump, plus fever and general aches & pains. Thursday it was just as bad, maybe a little worse and I slept on/off most of the day. Thursday PM it started itching a little so it finally dawned on me that I could put Cortisone Cream on it!!

That seemed to help a lot and while still a big lump Friday the heat and redness was gone, so was the fever. Today the lump isn't visible but if you rub my arm it's still a lump under there.

I was joking that my overactive immune system didn't like tetanus, and was encapsulating it and would spit it back out like the body does with a splinter! :)
