GoAskAlex,
Hey When you read this I want you to try something different with your pain and other symptoms. First, I want you to give your fibro a name. I call mine Damian, because he is evil. Then after you have named it, I want you to talk back to it in your head, or out loud if you like LOL. I do this in my head. "OK Damian I see that you are causing pain in my legs today and giving me some anxiety, what's got you so P!%%ed off today. Well, guess what? not today Damian not today. I am stronger than you and you will not win. So whatever has made you angry such as my job, or the stress of the bills or whatever you need to get over. Its ridiculous that you act up like this just because you don't like the weather, or the conversation I had with my boss. SO KNOCK IT OFF!!!"
This is my way of using self talk to tell my brain that I am in charge. Its like using the tough love approach on a child when they misbehave. Its not always easy to do, but most days I find it helps. Let your fibro know that you are not going to give up to it. Let it know who is the boss.
Try it for a few days change your attitude towards it.
Hang in there
Michael
