I was wondering what the difference is between fibro fog and just bad memory?
A lot of the time I forget common words when I'm trying to use them and then they come back to me a few minutes later or even hours later.
I also have moments when I do something and have no recollection of it later.
Sometimes do something like put the table salt in the freezer and not even realize it.
So what exactly is the difference between fog and just bad memory?
Is what I described considered fibro fog?

I guess you can say it is bad memory if you are at an age that that happens.
I am 52 and have the same memory problems you do. I noticed a significant change when the fibro hit. It is very embarrassing when I can't recall the work I want to use, or use the wrong word instead. I had a pretty sharp memory up until the past few years. Now I have difficulty with words, names, where I placed something - even 2 minutes before, my short term is bad. But when I am in a flair it gets worse, I feel like I am in a daze. I drive because I have to but there are times when it probably isn't safe, need my daughter to be my navigate because I forget where I am supposed to turn.. I do things without thinking. One time I walked out right in front of a car because I forgot to look first.
There are times when it truly feels like dementia, but I know it is fibro related.

My thinking gets fuzzy
my thoughts are fleeting.
I was going somewhere
or was I leaving?
What word was I going to say?
This could take all day.
Someone please tell me what to do
Because my brain feels like poo.

I was just going to asked new neurologist the same question about
poor memory and fibro fog. Mine is bad and yes it gets embarrassing at times. There are many days if I wonder if I have signs of early alzheimers. I have step out in front of a roadway before looking too. My husband stop me just in time. I could go on and on with crazy stories that have to do with poor memory. I was wondering if they can look at my brain and see changes. I see her at the end of the month. Hope to find some answers out.

I am 24 and I normally have very good memory. It's just sometimes this weird memory problem hits me.
My Vitamin D levels were at 27. He said normal range was 30 to 100. He went ahead and put me on supplements. They have not improved my memory or pain.

Have not had my D checked. I don't go to the Dr. often, try to handle this on my own. Weird, I know. But I am going to pick some up and see if it helps. Thanks.

Sounds just like "Fibro Fog" to me, which is pretty much bad memory as a result of whatever Fibro does to us. It's not just Fibro but many chronic illnesses that have this, I've even heard cancer survivors say that they have the same problems.
My mom was recently dx'ed with Fibro (I was dx'ed in 2010) and she texted me the other day asking if memory issues was part of Fibro "forgetting things that she normally said 100 times a day" or things like how to write her own name. I was in class and didn't see her text but then 2 texts later she had found the answer and the text said something like "oh this is what you are talking about
when you say "Fibro Fog" isn't it!?". YUP!

Yes the fog is disturbing. I forget entire conversations I've had. This is what sent me to seek support from this forum. I've always had a photographic memory, and I never wrote anything down. It bothers me so badly to feel confused like this. Takes away your confidence.

Thank you everyone for the information and advice. I normally have great memory, but often it's like there's a glitch in my brain where I'm trying to connect to a word or memory and my brain has filed it in the one folder...i know it's a weird way to explain it but that's how I feel. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has glitches.
