Fibro mimicking Kidney stone pain?

I have fibro and am the king of kidney stone history. Until I was dx with fibro I knew what Kidney stone pain was, but I wonder if what I'm feeling right now is really Fibro pain alone... or Fibro + kidney stone pain together?

My symptoms:

pain in kidney area
gas
cramping
bit of shooting pain done towards groin
little bit nauseous

confused

My experience with kidney stones all point towards.... a kidney stone coming down the way... i posted this thread because its been a while since I had kidney stone trouble and then the Fibro started beating me up pretty bad.

I've never had a stone but I do get nasty UTIs.
Do you take cranberry pills? They really help me.

This i'm pretty sure is a stone.. "small' one. Since yesterday no major change, discomfort and low pain level. Wondering if I will be passing this one along soon... the waiting game. Hope it doesn't land me in the ER (vomiting and high pain). Considering going to see my PCP maybe do an standard xray.

I actually have had really similar pain lately, but a CT scan showed no stones. I have Crohn's disease so I figured it was that just in a new place. But I think it might be fibro pain instead because it doesn't really follow any kind of pattern with my Crohn's symptoms.

I too get a lot of kidney stones. It can be hard to tell the difference between kidney stone and fibro pain. I have found that if the pain moves from back down the front toward groin area it is usually stones and if it stays in back area it is fibro. Also when I start getting those types of pain I increase my fluid and keep an eye on my urine for blood or sediment. My Dr gave me a prescription for kidney stones that is a pain reliever and it dilates everything in that area to help them pass.

I've never had kidney stones but it's far too easy to blame fibro for so many things. This can run you into trouble. We had a mod several years ago that blamed fibro for her headaches and chest pain and she ended up having a stroke and a heart attack. I'm not trying to frighten you but when in doubt, get checked out! Hey, this is a good slogan for this forum.

Kidney stones are painful. My son had them twice . He has changed his diet to eat less acid foods. Kidney stones are crystallized minerals. Usually his pain in in the lower side and back, nausea frequent painful urination.

I agree with Tina. If you have a history of kidney stoned having medication handy can help. Watch for color and sediment in urine. Also a quick ultra sound can let u know for sure.

I have had gall stones and it is definitely more unbearably painful than my FM. I felt like I was having a heart attack. The pain for both kidney and gall stones are both extreme that any movement is a challenge.

Hope u get this sorted out soon.
