We as a society have placed doctors on sort of a pedestal. And it makes sense, they have had a great deal of education and have a tremendous amount of power. However, the same is true for them as for the rest of us - you can't fix stupid. All the education in the world won't help someone who refuses to learn.
I went to a neurologist years ago who diagnosed my Meniere's disease as anxiety. He didn't even do any tests or investigation - he just saw a middle aged woman and threw the anxiety diagnosis at me, delaying the diagnosis of my actual problem and prolonging my suffering. Anxiety is a real illness with a real treatment. But all women are not suffering from it.
I agree with the others, I would definitely find a new doctor and consider reporting him. It is a bit jarring to go to someone for help that you are supposed to trust and have him treat you like that. I'm sorry it happened to you. That is so unacceptable.
I hope you feel better soon. I'm sure you will since you are pretty...
