Hi ALittleLoopy: When I'm in a flare, I try to get extra rest during the day if possible, and a little more sleep at night.
My favorites for coping with flares are an electric heating pad, muscle creams (anything I find in a pharmacy; even some generic ones aren't bad, I've found), microwavable 'bed buddy' for areas like my neck, and gabapentin (Neurontin) for nerve pain, and keeping warm by dressing in layers, especially in the cooler months, obviously.
I prefer Neurontin to Flexeril, but sometimes I take Flexeril, especially with leg stiffness.
I like that my doctor prescribes in low dosages, and I try to use the lowest dosage that helps. Less fatigue!
Warm baths really seem to help, too, and if my sinuses have kicked up because of a flare, I carefully use steam and also nasal rinses, as well as avoid sugar as much as possible.
Trying to divert my mind by doing something relaxing/fun helps, too. I think hobbies are a must for those of us with fibro! I also like clean comedy.
And I save my major housecleaning for my 'better' days.
Eating as healthy as possible is a real 'must' for me. Prayer and spiritual reading helps me, too.
Pacing is an absolute must!
Hope you're having a good day! :)
