For whoever is interested or curious, I wanted to give an update on my thyroid update.
So I've been diagnosed with fibro over 6 years now. I kept telling docs I believed my hormones played a BIG role. Blood test were done no answers.
A couple of months ago my tsh level finally showed hypothyroidism on the test. Once I started taking hormone replacement ( levothyroxine ) I started feeling better. Less pain, more energy and positive mood.
about a month in, something went wrong. I started a new sleeping med and eventually started having extreme hyperthyroid effects. Sorry I'm trying to make this short.
So it could have been a drug interaction or too high dose of thyriod med, but I had to stop the levothyroxine. BTW, while I was having these crazy overdose symptoms for about a week, I noticed NO PAIN. It was very weird for me since I have had chronic pain daily .
After a week not taking levothyroxine , my pain and other symptoms came back. I go back to my pain management doc today for a new prescription for thyroid med. yay , I am looking forward to it.
During this time someone I the thyroid forum helped me with info on more thyroid testing. I took their suggestions and asked my doc for these thyroid antibody test. I will be looking forward to the doc's talk about these test results.
One of the test shows antibodies for the thyroglobulin , it appears to be Hashimoto . Ill see want the doc wants to do with me now :)
Anyways, I want to share this incase you are suffering like me. Was I misdiagnosed , I don't know. After my thyroid is managed, will I still have fibro symptoms , I don't know . Looking at the symptoms, these appear very similar.
I believe I had the thyroid issue before it showed on the normal TSH range . I don't believe the standard range is my normal range. Also I wish I could have had the antibody test done before. Maybe the antibodies were present .
I would also appreciate if anybody would like to share with me any info. If it wasn't for someone sharing on the thyroid forum , I wouldn't have asked my doc for those test. Thank you.
