Back and side pain problems

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, so I apologize if it's not.

These last two days have been hell for me. Yesterday morning I woke up and the lower part my back was in pain. Strangest thing is, I was awake until 5 something in the morning and I was fine. And when I woke up it was only after 10. My mother and my sister think it's because the mattress I sleep on is so old.

Then later on yesterday I start to have this excruciating pain on my sides. Sometimes on left side. Sometimes on my right side. Today my back is still a little soar but's it not bothering me as much as it was yesterday. But those side pains are still giving me big problems. They tend to happen if I move around. This is driving me crazy.

Any ideas on what this could be? Could it be Fibromyalgia or something else? A muscle spasm perhaps?

Well, if it's pain that's only been there for a couple of days, I doubt it's Fibromyalgia....but check out "Fibro 101", first thread on the list, and you'll get a better idea. This illness affects all four quadrants of the body (but not always at once) and is long-standing.

Well I went to the ER last night. The doctor initially suspected that I may have had kidney stones. But after getting a CT scan, getting my blood work and having a urine test, they couldn't find anything specific. No kidney stones, no appendicitis, no urinary tract infection, no kind of inflammation, no fibro etc. They did give something for the pains I'd been having and I haven't had any since then. As well as some prescription meds.


I guess I should consider myself lucky. Because they were some people in the rooms nearby where I was that were having similar problems that I was having. And I overheard their doctors telling them they had urinary tract infections.
