Andre, there is no cure for Fibro yet so we do things to make us more comfortable so we can still enjoy our lives. Some medications help with that. There is no specific medication that helps everyone because this illness seems to affect everyone differently, except for the pain, and we have to find ways that help us.
You asked for alternative ideas so these are what I do. I do gentle stretching and gentle exercise like walking and swimming daily. I get gentle massages once a month and use trigger point therapy on myself when needed.
I use magnesium malate and vitamin D3 to help with the pain and fatigue of Fibro. These have helped me quite a bit.
I discovered that Kosher dill pickles and green Spanish olives (I rinse them in water) have cut my pain in half. I have told others and this has helped them also.
Lastly, and most importantly for me, is maintaining a positive attitude and outlook on life. When I get up each morning I'm thankful for a new day because we don't know what the new day holds for us. I also pay attention to all the blessings in my life and don't dwell on the negative things. I don't see any point in getting up and expecting another lousy day. That makes you miserable right from the start! Besides, what you believe becomes your reality so I believe I'm going to have a great day today with minimal pain and I probably will.
All of the above has helped me live my life to the fullest and I only take one prescription medication, a muscle relaxer, for my Fibro and ankylosing spondylitis. I can use over the counter pain relief and that helps me also.
