Has anyone had an EMG or other Neurological tests?

Hi,

I just joined this forum and am wondering if anyone with a "Fibro" diagnosis has had an EMG,Nerve conduction studies,Nerve biopsy,muscle biopsy or other test?
If you have, would you be able to state what the results were and what was exactly written in the report?
In my view,Fibromyalgia is a "waste basket" diagnosis that doctors diagnose all patients with that have unusual symptoms that they don't know the cause of due to it being an easier thing for the doctor to do.
Therefor,not all patients with a Fibromyalgia "diagnosis" have the same disease process.

If you could state in point form like the below that would be great:

1.Your exact symptoms
2.The test/s you had
3.The result as per the report

Hi, Ivana, and welcome! Do you have fibromyalgia? If not, I'm happy for you. Saying fibro is a wastebasket illness is really upsetting to those of us that do suffer from this disease. It used to be considered a wastebasket illness until doctors studied and learned more. It is recognized by the American Medical Association, the National Institutes of Health, the American College of Rheumatology, and the World Health Organization just to name a few. There are still a few doctors out there in the Dark Ages when it comes to this illness but finally many of us are getting the help we need.

Most of us have gone through testing to rule out things like Lyme disease, lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid problems, etc. The list goes on and on. We have a link in Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum...called What Else Could It Be that lists some of the things we have to be checked for. When you get a chance, if you are interested in fibromyalgia, do read Fibro 101. There is a ton of good info in there. Here is a link that really might explain this illness better for you.

The questions you ask pop up occasionally. Just adding that if you type, for example, 'EMG' and 'nerve conduction test' in the search box (top of the page on this forum), you'll run across similar posts and many stories about testing.

The RA that diagnosed me thank god was an amazing dr. He knows that Fibro is real and he has been doing studies and research for years. He told me point blank that he was a retired dr that was just helping out and that the dr that was the actual RA dr does not believe it is real or is diagnosable. He told me that I was the ideal Fibro patient that he would have loved to use me as a case study when he was teaching. SO I deal with this pain and was recently diagnosed even though I knew that it was real and that I have had it for many years. It is sad that we have to try to jump through hoops to be diagnosed in the year 2015/2016
