I'm just guessing here. I'm not a doctor. But the fact that these aches, pains, and other symptoms have been going on for a long time, a little red flag went up for me. I'm sure the antibiotic would help a sinus infection but the fact that it has helped you as much as you say it is is surprising. I've been on antibiotics numerous times over the 29 years I've had fibro and my pain has not subsided like that.
Soooo, curious person that I am, I looked up to see if arithomycin is used with Lyme disease. The treatment for Lyme is use of antibiotics. This is something I found.
"First-line drug therapies for Lyme disease may include (in alphabetical order): oral amoxicillin, azithromycin, cefuroxime, clarithromycin, doxycycline, and tetracycline. These antibiotics have similar favorable results in comparative trials of early Lyme disease."
I'm really very surprised that you haven't been checked for Lyme disease...especially since you have had tick bites...plural! Did you tell your doctor this? If I were you I would TELL them to check for Lyme since you have been bitten by ticks. Golly, that's the least they should do in my humble estimation.
Now, also the fact that you got a lot of rest could explain this as fibro, too. Sleep is so very important for fibromites and helps with pain.
Bottom line is we still don't know for sure. Do get bloodwork done for Lyme and request that the sample be sent to Igenex Labs in Palo Alto, California. They are supposed to be the most accurate labs in diagnosing Lyme disease. I'm not sure how much that costs though. The Lyme forum can help you with this.
I am glad you are feeling better now. I do understand that you don't have health insurance so this does present a problem. You might see what happens when you have finished the course of antibiotics...about two weeks after. You should be able to tell more that way too.
Do let us know how you are and what your doctor says.
