Hi Angeltears and welcome to the fibro forum! There's lots of good support here. The very first post on the list ("Fibro 101") is really helpful, too.
So sorry that your fibro is so bad. Have you seen any type of specialist, such as a neurologist or rheumatologist to rule out other conditions? That's always helpful.
Your post struck a note with me. I have fibro, as well as a secondary neuro condition (was never "officially" diagnosed with that; a 'wait and see' diagnosis several years ago). Anyway, currently I'm struggling with ramped up symptoms that are very hard to deal with. I had an appointment with a neurologist but had to cancel, due to (expensive) emergency dental work. Rats!
I just rescheduled and want to find out what's going on, and why my symptoms are worse. Just going through testing and getting some conclusions can be a huge relief. Of course, sometimes we don't always like what we're told, but it's always a good thing to get checked over, then take the next needed step.
Just curious if it's your legs or feet or both that are causing problems? Today I walked around in my house quite a bit and my legs are super stiff. I'm sitting for a while, because the soles of my feet will cramp if I stand much longer. I just took a Flexeril, which helps a lot, though it makes me sleepy. As for me, the pain really hits me big-time around 3 or 4 AM. I have to get out of bed and walk around for a while and that helps a little.
Do you happen to have high arches? That's some of my problem, though not all. It helps me (sometimes) to wear supportive shoes with thick but light-weight soles (gel soles are good), and soft orthotic arch supports I found at Wal-Mart in their foot care department. I also sometimes wear stretchy bands around my arches to lift them, though at times that's uncomfortable.
Did they check your circulation? If that's an issue, you could ask the doctor about
compression socks.
Were you given any meds to help? A follow-up appointment? Suggestions as to another specialist? Sometimes we have to ask the doctor if we're not getting answers.
Alternating sitting and standing/walking is helpful quite often. It's just good to change positions often. I absolutely have to do that or I'm practically a statue!
Hope you get some answers soon. Wish you the best and keep posting.
