Hi, April, and welcome! Boy, you sure have been through a lot. I'm glad that you seem to be doing better now. Cancer is such an ugly illness.
Cymbalta can cause weight gain also. It actually can cause weight loss in some people. It depends on how your body reacts to it. Also, because of our pain, it's tempting to sit and lay too much and just don't get enough exercise to burn those calories. I walk daily as a gentle form of exercise and the walking helps with pain and fatigue. If you don't walk, I would highly suggest it. Swimming and yoga are two other good gentle cruises. But, in answer to your question, weight gain is not a symptom of fibromyalgia.
Another fibro medication that seems to cause weight gain in our members is called Lyrica and some have stopped the medication because of this. But then others do well on Lyrica. There is no set medication for fibro that works for everyone. It's a trial and error type thing.
I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin that has made a significant difference in my pain. I add my walking and pacing things to the list of things that help me also. So does gentle massages and Trigger Point Therapy which I do on myself. I've had fibro for 30 years and have lived a full and enjoyable life in spite of this illness!
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
