Excessive sweating

I've had fibro for 9 years and am 73 years old but lately I sweat buckets at the slightest exertion! Getting dressed, doing dishes, walking dog.

It is hot here but even in air conditioning it happens. Stress does it too. It drips off me. I was being evaluated for a procedure and the resident said, "is there some reasoning you are perspiring so much?". I told him I had walked a distance in the hospital to get to his office but he didn't seem impressed.

My primary doctor did a T4 yesterday for my thyroid and it was okay.

I guess it could be my weight BMI 40. Could be my age. I take a lot of meds but this just started about 2 months ago. My meds haven't changed in years. Cymbalta, Baclofen, Lisinopril, nadolol, Flecainide, D3, magnesium.

Is it another gift from fibromyalgia????

Nah, Barb. Fibro doesn't give us any gifts. 😂 I'm going to take a few guesses, okay?

I'm 70 and I have things pop up fairly frequently. I think as we age things don't work as well as they used to. So this might be the cause.

This could be something that will be temporary too. I've developed things and have had them disappear as fast as I got them. Strange!
When I was pregnant my feet perspired so much that they were slipping in my shoes and the odor was horrible. My feet NEVER perspire! But they sure did with all my pregnancies and only when I was pregnant! Go figure!

I have a daughter who is 39 and lives by me. There are times we are having dinner together in air conditioning and she has beads of perspiration on her forehead! She is always perspiring but I don't...unless I'm working outside in the heat and humidity. That is to be expected. But her perspiring is normal for her.

I'm glad you have discussed this with your doctor. He doesn't seem to be concerned so you shouldn't be. Find things that can help you. I have seen advertised lately a "scarf" that you stretch out and it becomes cold...like about 60 degrees. It shows tennis players putting them around their necks. Maybe something like this could help you. Also, drink plenty of water because you are losing fluid. I drink ice water all day long and perhaps that's one reason I don't perspire. It not only hydrates me but helps keep me cooler.

Below is a link from the Mayo Clinic about excessive perspiration. It lists causes and one is taking certain antidepressants and beta blockers. You take both so maybe this could be starting to bother your system. It also said that nerves controlling perspiration might be involved. We know nerves affect us with fibro, so who knows? So do read thie link below. I do hope this is temporary for you. I would definitely hate this problem!
