Costco has a special on hot tubs for $2,000 delivered. I don't know if it would help pain but I am concerned about the heat.

When I take a long hot shower I feel nauseated and woosey afterwards. I might feel very sick after being in hot water

Appreciate you experiences and thoughts

James, that’s a heap of money to spend on something you aren’t sure of. Why don’t you see if a hotel in your area has a hot tub. You could get a room for the night or maybe they would let you try only the hot tub for a lesser price. Then you would have a better idea. I think you can adjust the temperature on those too.

I personally don’t go in hot tubs because of the heat that helps bacteria grow. I’m very fussy. 😂

Hot showers feel great to me but I don’t stay in the shower that long.

Some of it may depend on where you live, weather wise. If, the hot/warm water helps with pain and if it's inside or outside.

If it's outside and you can adjust the temp it wouldn't be quite so bad. The cooler evening might help you stay cool. Plus, at your own home you can hop in for a bit and then out, then in.... I do think the hotel idea is a good one, though.

Are any chemicals used in hot tubs to keep them clean?

I like the idea of checking out a hot tub in a hotel so you can see how you react and whether it helps you.

I use to belong to a health club, and their hot tub didn't do much for me. Soaking in my bathtub before bedtime works well for me.

AM, yes a sanitizer & shock are used in hot tubs. I treat ours weekly, otherwise the water would get nasty real quick & that would not be good for the tub.

James, something you can consider is some people like the little portable spas that go into the bathtub. They are much less expensive. I have no experience with one of these units. Go online & look at various portable units to get an idea of cost & comments made. We have used hot tubs outside for over 20 years now. We bought a new one a little over a year ago, I am totally amazed at how much they have been improved, unbelievable. Now all of the literature states "hydrotherapy", it truly is too. They have come a very long way.

I would definitely try one before you buy. I tried a sauna when we were travelling last year. One thing I noticed was that it felt wonderful, but if I did it early in the day, I felt terrible when I went out because of the difference in temp. It would definitely only be something I could do before bed or on a day that I wasn't leaving the house.
