Hi Healthquest, and welcome! I started this thread for you since you posted on a thread where you will not get answers. I am locking that thread. Many members asked her to let them know what her diagnosis was. I let her know how to put her email address in her profile so she could be reached but yet she didn’t do it. I highly doubt you will hear from her. I personally think it’s not right coming on, offering possible ideas to get relief, but won’t give out the information! What was the reason for posting?
I’m glad you came on. We have many ideas that we DO share what has helped us. I’ve had fibro for 31 years and am better than I was years ago! So, please don’t think we don’t share things to help each other.
I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin that had made a significant difference in my pain. I walk daily and swim in the summer as my gentle forms of exercise. I pace myself when doing things. It’s important to keep moving with fibro because if you sit or lay too long you will be stiff as a board and have more pain. I also keep a positive attitude! I think it helps so much when dealing with this illness. You need to remember that what helps one with fibro doesn’t necessarily help another. It’s a trial and error type process. But you will get good ideas here.
It would be good to start your own introductory thread so members know you are here.
If you have had lupus, Lyme disease, Ms, etc. ruled out, you most likely do have fibromyalgia. There is no good test for it so these other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms as fibro have to be ruled out first. It is important to accept your diagnosis and move forward with your life. Being in denial and constantly searching for your mysterious illness usually is fruitless. It’s a frustrating proposition. Of course, if other symptoms pop up, do check these out with your doctor. Doctors and researchers and working hard on finding answers as to what is causing fibro so hopefully something will be coming forth soon. Meanwhile, enjoy your life!
Be sure to read Fibro 101... the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. You might see some things that help your particular symptoms!
I’m looking forward to getting to know you better. Don’t hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
