low dose naltrexone?

Hi everyone I’m a member over on the Lyme board but hoped over here to try and help my twin sister who has Fibromyalgia. I’ll be starting 4.5mg of low dose naltrexone for Lyme tonight but after reading some reviews have noticed it may help fibro pain as well. Anyone have experience taking low dose naltrexone? Thank you

I don’t know of anyone on that medication on this fibro forum. But someone just might pop up. It was discussed many years ago and there was a lot of negative things said about this medication. I don’t know how it would work for Lyme patients but Lyme and fibro are definitely different illnesses so the body could react differently. I hope it really helps you.

You should tell your sister to come here and we could help her. We have good people here that love to help one another and we really do care about each other too. I hope I will see her soon.

There is something I am forgetting. I kind of had it all gathered in my head when I started typing. Then I lost my entire post here and I had to start over. Apparently my brain didn't remain consistently glued to all of it that I wanted to say, darn it. I thought, the way that my brain works, as soon as I hit "Submit Post" it would come back to me. Wrong! Maybe if I go through various old posts it will come back to me.

I was asking about a sleep/glia connection today on FB and was given a link to a Cort Johnson blog from Sept 2017
"Poor sleep, it turns out, appears to bring out the worst in our glial cells."
"They’re [glia] linked to pain sensitization because they emit many factors (brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), IL-1B, TNF-a) known to send our pain-producing nervous system pathways into a tizzy..."

And I was reminded of a recent post about this linked study, and I'll give you her intro to this, in case anyone has missed seeing the info or is new to fibro research.
"Previously, the Swedish Karolinska team has twice found intrathecal IL-8, an inflammatory cytokine, in fibro patients. Intrathecal = in the theca (sac) of the spinal cord, demonstrating central inflammation. The lead author on the first was Diana Kadetoff, and on the second, Eva Kosek.
"(I have seen a non-fibro study ---from Japan maybe?-- which found that CNS inflammation, demonstated in their study by IL-8, rises with the presence of peripheral inflammation.)"
