Hi, Yellwdaisy, and welcome! We’ve had a few discussions about CBD oil but there wasn’t a definite census. A few thought it helped bit most said it didn’t. One person said they got worse! In the upper right corner of the forum you will see a Google custom search. Type in “CBD oil fibromyalgia” and it will show links where it has been discussed.
I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol. Vitamin D3, magnesium malate, and a prescription muscle relaxer called Robaxin (methocarbamol) that made a significant difference in my pain. Unfortunately, what works for one with fibro doesn’t necessarily work for another but you just might find the right combination of things on this forum!
My back was horrible and then my legs started getting bad. Since fibro is not considered a progressive illness, I saw a board certified rheumatologist and discovered I had ankylosing spondylitis and sacroiliitis along with fibro! I was put on the muscle relaxer and I haven’t felt this good since I developed fibro 32 years ago. i still have pain but it’s far more manageable.
Also, according to the American College of Rheumatology, the Mayo Clinic and others, fibro isn’t considered an inflammatory Illness. I have a lot of inflammation but it’s caused by other inflammatory illnesses I have. Fibro used to be called fibrositis. That means inflammation of the fibers (muscles, tendons, and ligaments). Then they found that there are fibro patients with no inflammation so the name was changed to fibromyalgia.
The ending “itis” means inflammation. The ending “myalgia” means muscle pain. We can have muscle pain with the flu, overextending ourselves, etc. but it’s not inflammation.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you better. Don’t hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
