Any of you guys w fibro ever consider you have an autoimmune issue? I was getting limb pain for years, felt like a deep ache in my arms and legs. Every dr told me I had fibromyalgia.

Fast forward to this year and it turns out I actually have an autoimmune issue probably caused by Lyme. If you go into any is the autoimmune blogs you’ll see pretty much everyone list fibromyalgia like muscle pain as a symptom

Hi, dcd, and welcome! I’m glad you found out what is causing your problems. Many of us have autoimmune illnesses on top of having fibro. I personally have four autoimmune diseases along with fibro. This is common with these illnesses and I’m sure members with Lyme disease have other illnesses that are autoimmune that they are dealing with. Unfortunately some blame all their problems on one disease.

I was having severe back problems and it was getting worse. I know fibro isn’t considered a progressive illness so I saw a rheumatologist and I have a disease of my spine called ankylosing spondylitis. I was blaming my back pain on fibro. Yes, fibro causes some of my back pain but not to the point I was getting worse and worse. I was given ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer and I’m soooo much better.

We also mention Lyme disease to any new member and tell them to be tested to rule that out so we do cover Lyme disease with new members. They can then go to the Lyme forum to get more info if they want to. But this is the fibro forum and that’s what we discuss here...not Lyme disease.
