Hi, Nissree, and welcome! I don’t take antidepressants so I don’t know much about this medication. But I did look it up and, yes, it looks like Amitriptyline could be causing you problems…especially since you stopped it all at once. Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic about this.

I would definitely talk to my doctors if this were happening to me. It doesn’t sound like this is a good medication for you to be using. I know we have had members in the past that have taken amitriptyline and haven’t had these issues. There are quite a few medications out there for depression so it seems to me you can get the help you need. If your psychiatrist isn’t willing, I would get a second opinion. ( I tell the members that 50% of the doctors graduated in the lower half of their class and yours could be one of them. 😉). You definitely don’t want to have these feelings and you shouldn’t be crying all of the time either!
Quite a few members take Cymbalta. Did it help you and, if so, why did you stop taking it? My husband suffered from depression and was on Prozac. It helped him so much that he thought he didn’t need it anymore. He stopped it without telling me and I could tell he wasn’t taking it just a few days after he stopped! He was surprised I could tell…since he never told me he stopped it. So he started it up again and took it the rest of his life. Depression is so hard to deal with so if you find a medication that is helping you, you should stick with it and not stop…especially on your own. With many medications, you need to be weaned off them.
You might go over to our depression forum on HealingWell. You would probably get more responses there too.
I hope you get the help you need soon. Set up appointments today and get this situation under control. I know you want to feel better and you can feel better once you get the help you need! You do have a lot of good times ahead of you. We all do.
I hope you get your pain under control too. I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, vitamin D3, magnesium malate, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin (methocarbamol) that made a significant difference in my pain. But everyone is different as to what helps them with fibro. I do know so many are deficient in vitamin D and that can cause pain so that’s why I take quite a bit of vitamin D3.
Be sure to read Fibro 101…the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you better. Don’t hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
