Now full back pain. Help!

Hey everyone! I was on here about a decade ago. As I’m sure any of you can relate I just turned into myself for dealing with my own fibro. I was diagnosed when I was 22. Now I’m 36. I have tried different exercises over the years on and off to see if it helps and so on. It would make me flare or I would just be too tired to try. Now I’m trying again, but I have more issues. I have finally been diagnosed with IBS-D. I’ve gotten approved for FMLA and a reasonable accommodation at work to allow me to go to the bathroom as needed. Now what I’m trying to figure out is my back some other areas. I don’t want to get accommodations for the fibro too because it doesn’t effect me too bad. If I’m honest I feel like I could work if I was just in something resembling a womb pod from the Matrix. I tried a chiro for a second time April 2021 to October 2021. I got a little more mobility, but I feel like I made him nervous or very concerned about how to adjust my back. I had been having upper back pain along with head and neck pain for 6 prior at the time. Some of the reasons I stopped seeing him is now I have pain in my knees every-so-often that “appear” under my kneecap and to the outside of my knee. I’ve found the low impact exercises to help a bit. I just have to be so careful. When I thought I just had upper back pain, it turns out it’s my entire back. Could the chiro be right and it’s the fibro inflammation? I also have pain on my right pelvic bone. I don’t know what that’s about yet. ‘Cause it’s not my hip socket. It’s the top of my pelvis on the right side. I get tingling that can become intense if I lay on that side too long at night. I have put the 3” foam mattress topper back on our bed and that has helped a lot. I still have to adjust a bit to be able to sleep on it. I don’t where it’s from but it started in November. A month after I stop seeing the chiro. I have looked at disability to future proof. I’m not eligible yet, which is fine. Not ideal, but I can still work. I just need help. I don’t know what’s new in fibro treatment. I have seen some of the pills and I’m not thrilled about them. I don’t know what to ask or talk to my doctor about. There’s more, but I have to get to bed. Whatever leads you can give me to check on I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for reaching out, Sherrine. I will definitely put the Rheumatologist on the list. I did feel like the Chiro was using my fibro as a cop out for my back. The adjustments helped give me a bit more range of motion, but at the cost of my knees nearly wanting to give out if that pain strikes. I want to find a massage therapist, but maybe in to due time. I’m still recovering from apparently doing too much exercise too fast. *shrugs* I have wondered about canes some days, but my upper back is so bad that leaning on a cane would cause a chain reaction. I won’t give up on finding relief, but to vent my pocket book and fatigue might bring challenges. I’m also glad this forum exists because I need the support. Suppressing my feelings about my condition haven’t helped.

Hi FuzzySlippers: I had seen a few different neurologists with my leg/feet issues, then, at Sherrine's suggestion, I saw a rheumatologist. I found that they looked at things differently, with some overlapping, but I felt that it was a thorough exam, so---yes, I second the idea of seeing a board-certified rheumatologist.They just may 'catch' something other doctors may have missed.

I take Robaxin, also (again, kudos to Sherrine for suggesting it!). I like that it doesn't seem to make me as drowsy as some other meds. Everyone is different, of course, but it works for me. I take the same amount as Sherrine does.

Hi Sherrine: Yup--I am buying methocarbamol; have never purchased Robaxin, so I wasn't very clear in my post. Good point, as prices can be all over the place.

Yes--it sure does make a big difference in cost, and I've been very happy with the methocarbamol. Some of the other muscle relaxants are priced so high it's unbelievable. I can't remember which specifically it was, but I checked into a different muscle relaxant quite a while ago with my pharmacist (who is super helpful!) and I was shocked by the price--even with insurance coverage. It's amazing how those prices can vary!

GoodRX sounds like a good deal! I generally get my prescriptions from a small-town pharmacy, so I'm not sure they accept that, but will check into it. Thanks much!
