I am having severe frybro problems at moment, in so much pain. Dont no exactly which forum to goto. I have also type 2 diobetis my son passed away with type 1. I also have ka liver problems cholesterol problems, thyroid problem, arthritis esp knees no fluid left in knee caps and bottom of back. Severally depressed my anxiety cannot get under control. The pain in my hands ✋ today is killing me. My daughter is pregnant going to be a gran in 9 weeks, I feel a failure whats the point of carrying on only a baby is due to be born. Being honest I dont no what forum to start with. Totally had enough dont no what to do sorry for going on Diane

Now for this fibromyalgia forum. You know, most of us have many different problems. Fibro is plenty but we have even more things wrong. The most important thing is to have a good doctor. I always say to get a board certified doctor and if they are also Diplomates that is even better. They have to take tests on the newest things in medicine in order to keep the title of Diplomate.

I remind the members that 50% of the doctors graduated in the lower half of their class and yours could be one of them. You should be getting help for all of your issues from your primary care physician. I have a board certified Internist who is also a Diplomate as my primary care physician. He’s wonderful and works with me to feel better. I am a Type 2 diabetic and have had diabetes for 30 years and have no side effects from the disease. I watch how many carbs I eat and I have never been 7.0 or higher on my A1C tests. You want to stay below that. Diabetes is a serious illness but you can get control of it with good medication and watching what you eat. If you are overweight, lose weight. I lost 85 pounds by limiting my carbs to 100-120 carbs a day. I lost the weight about 13 years ago and haven’t gained it back! Yes, I love to eat but I love to feel and be healthy better!

There is medication to help with your cholesterol and this health issue also can be caused by eating habits. You want to keep your cholesterol low because diabetics are more prone to heart attack and strokes. So this is in your hands too. I do take Simvistatin to keep my cholesterol low to help with the heart attack and stroke issues. I don’t eat fast foods and I don’t fry foods either. My daughter has an air fryer and loves it. This might be a good option for you to help get the cholesterol under control too.

You said you have a lot of pain. Not all pain is caused by fibro. It sounds like you need to add a rheumatologist to your list of doctors. They can help with the back and muscle pain. My rheumatologist is board certified and also a Diplomate too. I take ibuprofen and also a muscle relaxer called Robaxin (methocarbamol) that has helped me significantly with my pain. I also take vitamin D3 and magnesium malate which helps with pain also.

I think once you get your pain under control, your depression will get better. It’s awful to be in a lot of pain but help is out there. And we also need to learn how to help ourselves. Doctors don’t have all the answers. I did a lot of searching and trying different things before I found what helps me. What helps one with fibro doesn’t necessarily help another. It’s a trial and error situation.

Be sure to read Fibro 101…the first thread on the forum. You will find a lot of good info about fibro there.

Bottom line is…find good doctors who will work with you. Do some research to find things that could help you. I try to use vitamins and nutrients to help me. They aren’t as expensive and our bodies need them. Use medications to help with some illnesses and learn to help yourself in order to become healthier. You have to pull yourself up and get moving forward. You do have a perfect reason to feel better…that new grandchild that is coming your way! How wonderful!

Do let us know what you are doing to help yourself because we do care about you. I want to hear that you are starting to feel better soon.

***Diane. I just reread your post and saw that you lost your son to Type 1 diabetes. I’m so terribly sorry. Parents aren’t supposed to outlive their children! My heart breaks for you but he is in a better place now and is healthy again. Just take one day at a time and each day should get better for you.

I lost my husband suddenly nearly 25 years ago and I was devastated. Going to grief therapy did help me move forward, along with taking one day at a time. I have had many good times in the past 25 years but I’ll always miss the love of my life. So, if you haven’t already, try grief therapy. This could even help your diabetes because stress will raise your blood sugar. Your new grandchild will help you a lot too. I’ll be praying for you.

Hi and welcome to the forum, Maddiane! I'm sorry you are dealing with so much. Sherrine, as usual, gave great advice. I don't have much to add---just a few things that also help me.

For whatever reason, mild heat helps me quite a lot. Not 'hot' heat--I just use either a heating pad on a lower setting or something like a microwavable rice bag or "bed buddy." I place it on the affected area for a little while and it helps the stiffness. Although---I'm not sure how that could relate to diabetes? Would they be compatible? Maybe someone with diabetes could weigh in on that. Same with muscle rub creams. I generally order them from Wal-Mart. I do know diabetes is a touchy condition, so again, maybe someone can weigh in on that.

Like Sherrine, I take Robaxin and it's been very helpful. I also take low doses of Neurontin and that helps with nerve issues. When my sciatica flares, the combination of Neurontin (gabapentin is the generic) and mild heat is very helpful to me. I also slowly stretch and try hard to do that daily.

Sometimes, I do online searches and find good tips for pain and such. For example, I'll search "fibromyalgia" or "fibromyalgia organizations" or something like "fibromyalgia treatments." I've come across some groups who send out email tips. Some have great and helpful ideas.

So very sorry about your son passing away. I like Sherrine's advice on finding a grief-support group. Back in the late 90s, my sister-in-law very suddenly lost her 8-year-old son to an undiagnosed heart condition. A terrible shock, most of all, to my sister-in-law. Her grief support group was a tremendous help to her.

Last year, I saw an internal medicine doctor. I wasn't overly impressed with him, except he encouraged me to do daily mild stretches and exercises. I came across a site called Yes2Next.com and signed up for their weekly e-mails. I have even e-mailed the gal who leads Yes2Next and she has been super helpful, especially in answering my questions in the e-mails. You may want to try something like that. You could check it out with your doctor, to see what he or she suggests. Many of their exercises can be done seated. The older gal in the videos is, I believe, 82 years old now. Quite an inspiration!

Do you have any hobbies? I find they really help me take my mind off fibro and all its issues.

Congratulations on becoming a grandma! So very fun! I have 3 little granddaughters and I can easily forget all about fibro while playing with them.
