Hello, all!

I found the source of the breathing problems that my husband has been having. This is so totally wierd, off the wall and not related to his ESLD and HepC!!!! He has a paralyzed vocal cord!! This can be very serious and he may possibly end up with a trach tube in to help him breathe, but who would have thought that what we thought was laryngitis (he losed his voice almost 3 weeks ago) was something like this. They are still looking for the cause of it (ruling out tumors, etc).......but this I guess has taken the focus off the liver, huh??

wow..that is totally weird. I certainly hope that your husband will be OK now that they have found the problem. Good thing you took him to Dr. And like you said who would of thought that it wouldn't have anything to do with the ESLD or HEP C. Wow take care of yourself as well as your hubby and give him my best and you too of course

So glad that you all found out what was causing your husbands breathing problems and hopefully they can find other alternatives besides a trach. Will keep you both in my prayers.

Quick update. We ended back in the ER a couple of days ago due to more breathing problems. Long story, short....they did another CT scan of the chest and some nodules has shown up on the lower lobe of the right lung, as well as nodules along the mediastinum (sternum area) and something about the lymph nodes. They sent him home, and we follow w/ a pulmonary doctor on Tuesday. He still cannot talk as his vocal cord is still paralyzed and the ENT doc says that unfortunately nothing she can do, but the nodules on the sternum could be what's causing the paralysis. Needless to say, I am in shock, and trying to not freak out. The liverr transplant team has not said much of anything about this (yet) and so my mind is racing.....I guess I just needed to vent. Am really at a loss as to what questions to ask, (in my gut I am wondering if his liver is cancerous and it is now spread or something), who to get direction from, etc......

I can only imagine how scared you are at this moment but try not to think the worst before you see the doctor (I know how hard that can be). I will keep both you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers.

 Mer, when does he see the hepatologist or transplant team again?  You need to find out what this latest finding means.
