Hello everyone i am new to this forum and i wanted to share my story. I lost my sister last night to cirrosis she was a cronic alcoholic but never a mean one always a caring person who loved her family. Hear is what is so hard i only had 5 days with her she never told anyone she had cerosis when i got to the hospital she had jaundice and her liver was failing and her legs were swollen and her nose bleed constantly doctors told me she had 24-48 hours left I felt like i was in the twilight zone i could not breath when i did it felt like a thousand needles being poked into me. I took my sister home on hospice and stayed with her every minute I possibly could told her i love her and never said goodbye I kept thinking that some miracle would happen she would get better she was only 36 years old this was not the end. well the miracle did happen the good lord took her away from this awful disease

and she dont have to suffer anymore I have had alot of death to deal with in my life but nothing compares to this watching my sister die was the hardest thing i have ever had to eal with I have seen how bad this disease can be and if anyone has any questions for me i would love to help out I might be real depressed but if anyone else is out there going thorugh this pain i went through please talk it's the only thing you can do.

jjsherer, please accept my sincere condolences on your dear sister's passing. The pain you must feeling now is horrendous. But you are right......she's not suffering anymore and she's in a much better place. Grief is a funny thing.......everyone goes through it differently. I crawled into a little black hole for a few weeks. It was scary to crawl out of it but I forced myself. I took baby steps at first.........it was 2 steps forward and 1 step back. I didn't start to feel normal until about a year after my husband died.

I came back here to HealingWell and all the kind compassionate members got me through the first 6 months. I then started going to a hospice bereavement group meetings about 6-7 months after he died. It taught me about all the ugly feelings that I was experiencing and how to deal with them. I was scared silly to go. I felt vulnerable and exposed. The first one I went to I turned around and ran back out. But returned for the next set of sessions. But it turned out to be one of the best thing that I could have done for myself.

It's very kind of you to offer your experience to others.

jjsherer, I, too, am offering my sincere condolences on the passing of your sister.  I know it must be especially hard since it was a shock to know how sick she was.  This is a really nasty disease and there is no cure for cirrhosis.

Your experience can certainly help others that are going through what you just have.  Thank you so much for offering at this time of unbearable grief.

jjscherer, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. My uncle passed away of cirrhosis when he was 36 also. He was always a caring person also. The only person he ever hurt was himself. I guess this disease knows no age limit. My husband is 44 and suffers from it also.

Your are so right in saying that she is in the lords hands now and will never have to suffer again. I'm so sorry for the sorrow you have now, but know that you will be with her again someday.

I too am so sorry at the loss of your sister. It is so difficult to watch someone you love pass on and I am sure it was even more difficult since it was so unexpected for you. I hope you continue to find the strength to find meaning and purpose in her passing.
