Hello, Hopeful2. I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with your husband going through this awful disease, but am glad that you found us. You will find many others here in the same boat. I suggest you look through some of the educational threads and read some of the older posts. They contain a lot of information.
You may also want to start a new topic, introducing yourself to the forum members, so that your post doesn't "drop through the cracks" on another's thread and not be seen.
I will say that I think giving Boost and whatever your husband will eat is fine. He needs to get as much in him as possible for strength and to ward off infections. Don't try to push him beyond what he can tolerate, as far as activity. The wheelchair is fine, as he doesn't sound very strong and you don't want him to fall. The shortness of breath is probably from the ascites.
How is his abstinence from alcohol being documented? My understanding is that an AA chairperson or a substance abuse counselor has to provide written proof of attendance; otherwise, I don't believe the transplant team will just accept your or his word that he isn't drinking. Since he will be meeting with the transplant team in 2 weeks, I'm sure they will give specifics about alcohol abstinence at that time. However, his 6 wks. sober (by then) may not be counted if it hasn't been properly documented.
Hang in there! You will get a lot of information and support here, so visit us often.
