Hi Everyone,

I have been living with hepatitis c and hiv for seventeen years, and I now have cirrhosis. For this reason I have begun writing my life story. It relates the events in my life, the choices I made and how they affected my life.
I'm writing this as a blog and every day I'm adding different parts to my life story. I hope you will read and be able to get a better understanding of these diseases and all of their implications.

Hi, Rick, and welcome to the forum!  You can post here, also.  People might be more likely to read it here than go to another site.

I was diagnosed with hep C nearly 16 yrs. ago, and with cirrhosis in May '06 during liver cancer surgery.

It sounds like you beat the liver cancer! Congratulatons! That is one added disease to be feared by anyone with hepatitis c, and the survival rates are low unless it's caught early. Of course you know that already.
I get my AFP tumor marker checked regularly.

Rick, I am 1 year and nearly 9 mos. cancer free, thanks to Mayo.  My cancer actually was NOT caught early, but I was very fortunately to be part of a study med that worked, and made surgery possible.  wink

I have read quite a bit of your blog, and there are certain parallels to my life, though I don't have HIV.  I was actually engaged to a Waffle House cook for a time, here in FL, before he returned to his home state of GA.  I look forward to reading more.

Since we have more caregivers here than liver patients, I would personally appreciate if you would post more here.

After I wrote that I think I got it. You would think that I would be more computer savvy epecially since I work at a college, but heck I learn as I go or I ask my sons.

There were a couple pages that I pulled off the site, that you might not be able to see, everything else is open. I've been busy the last day or so, found my daughter and have been busy catching up with her. This is the first I've known of her in 19 years so you know how excited I am!

Rick, that IS exciting!  I could tell you a little bit about that.  You will go through a "honeymoon" phase, but later on some anger might come out that is hard for her to work through.  Good luck!
