Hi everyone, I am new here and was excited to find this forum. I am dealing with alot and it just helps to talk to people who understand. I was diagnosed with HepC last year and it has been a rough road. I have other medical issues on top of that including fibromyalgia and chronic pain from degenerative disc disease and herniations in my spine. I lost my mom and dad last year 43 days apart and that on top of everything else has rocked my world. I have not started the treatments yet and still am not sure I want to. I had breast cancer in 94 and melanoma in 2004. I just feel like giving up sometimes. I begin to deal with one thing and something else happens. The biggest problem I am having with the Hep is fatigue. I can hardly drag myself through the day sometimes. It is terrible. I just try to keep my faith and know that whatever I go through will build a stronger character and I still try to enjoy my life. Thanks for listening. NanaKaki

Welcome to the forum Nanakaki.  I also have hep C and can really relate to the fatigue.  I sleep about 12 hours at a time and am still exhausted.  I was diagnosed in '93 and tried the interferon, but it made my white cells drop dangerously low.  I have since been waiting for a treatment without interferon, but there isn't one at this time.  I went through treatment and surgery for liver cancer, and have been cancer free for 2 years.  As you may know, liver cancer is a possible consequence of hep C.  I had other problems, too, which resulted in 7 major surgeries within 5 yrs.

You will find a lot of information here, as well as support.  It's a hard battle, for sure.

Thanks Connie. My Dr. has told me that it is a long hard road and I am sure finding that out. I have alot of other problems too and that doesn't make it any easier. I just don't want to do the Interferon. I am on homeopathic remedies now and am awaiting my last liver function studies. It's good to hear that you are cancer free now. I will pray for you to stay that way. I know it scares me that it is one of the consequences. I have already been through breast cancer and melanoma so the C word really makes me shudder. Looks like they could find something to help, there are so many people with this disease. I am trying to get my disability now, I can't work anymore because of the fatigue and my other problems. Mostly the fatigue. You can't keep a job when you have to call in every week because you just don't have the energy to get out of bed and get ready to go to work, let alone work when you get there. I will just keep hoping and praying and trying to live the best I can. Yes, the info here is good. I like it and it is just so wonderful to talk to people who are going through the same things you are. Thanks for your response. kathy

Hello Nanakaki and welcome to HealingWell. We are glad that you found us too.

Sorry that you are dealing with so many diseases.........I too have fibro. I know that fatigue is one of it's symptoms. Along with your Hep C boy you must be really tired a lot.

At the top of our forum is a thread call hepatitis resources. The last post is an educational thread that we compiled from some of our knowledgeable members. It has a lot of good information. Read it if you get a chance.

Thank you Pink Grandma for your response and welcome. Yes, I am tired ALOT!. I just keep pushing on but I have to admit I do have my days that I just can't do anything . What really makes me sad is I can't enjoy my grandchildren. I have 4, one who is just 6 weeks old and I can't even hold him very long. I keep praying that something good will come out of all of this. I will check out the thread you recommended. I appreciate any help or thoughts that can help me deal with all of this. Stay strong. Kathy
