Hi everyone.
I am an end stage liver and hep C patient, with the complications of varacies bleeds, so I take an antacid daily. I started out on previcid, which did nothing, then went to nexium which helps much better, but now my insurance company has said they will no longer cover any antacid medication because there are equivelant medicines over the counter. So far I have heard prilosec doesn't work for the people that nexium worked for. I have extreme acid all the time. I waych my diet. No fried foods, hardly any red meat, don't tolerate it well anyway, and no spices, or acid producing foods. I am also down to two cups of hot tea per day where i used to drink it constantly. It helps my nausea that I have all the time, but...caffine...and I hate cold tea.
So my question would be, does anyone have any first hand experience with the two drugs?
For the people with the lactoluse issues, I have found the generic enulose, tastes much better. At least it is like taking a swig of maple syrup. It doesn't seem to make as nausiuos either as the lactulose does. Just my experience though.
