Today, I received copies of my labs and CT scan done earlier this month at Mayo. This is the first time since I was diagnosed with hep C in 1993 that my liver enzymes have been totally normal!! In fact, they were elevated 2 yrs. prior to diagnosis, which is what led to being tested for hep C. The only thing I can attribute these great results to is my diet, rest and sleep, and as little stress in my life as possible. The remainder of my labs were also normal, except for BUN which is high at 30 and concerns me a little. The CT scan also noted "mild bilateral renal cortical scarring," which concerns me a little. However, my hepatologist didn't even mention it so I guess she felt it was of no particular consequence. That and the BUN is something I will keep an eye on, though, as I know that liver patients can have renal problems. Natalie Cole had to have a kidney transplant.
This great report is indeed something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving--as well as the fact that I'm still here and feeling relatively well.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our American posters!
