Taz, it's good to hear from you, as always.  Your dad must be a strong person to still be hanging in there.  I'm glad that your brother is there for both you and your dad. 

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family at this difficult time.

Hi again all.

Dad lost his battle and passed away peacefully in the early hours of yesterday morning. After seeing my brother and his family on Tuesday he declined rapidly and slipped into a coma on Friday afternoon. The final few days were quite relieving as Dad was no longer fighting. I got to the hospital no long after he passed and he looked at absolute peace.

Thank you all for your support since my first post all those months ago.

Taz, my sincere condolences.  It seems like your dad was waiting for your brother, doesn't it?  I am glad he passed peacefully.

Please know that you are always welcome here.  Your experiences can benefit others, and through them you dad can live on.

so sorry - it's only been a few weeks since i lost my mom and I wish I could offer some great advise about getting through, but I cannot.  i wish  you peace.

Taz please accept my sincere condolences on your dear father's passing. I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself and your mum. She's really going to need you for a while.

All,

Now that the dust has settled we can get on with our own lives. My kids seem to understand what has happened and mum is slowly getting a handle on the change in her life.

Once again I would like to thank Pink Granma and Hep 93 for their continued support and kind words.

This forum is a great place for help and advise and without Moderators they can not operate - great job to the two of you.

My love to you and your family, heartbreaking reading your thread, i've not long joined looking for answers for my dad (69) - esdl, kidneys
struggling, ascities , tipss not an option etc. i take great comfort from your strength and his peaceful passing.

This forum gave me a great deal of comfort and the support is fantastic.

There is a lot of information in the thread and I have a lot more available including some very useful websites. I hope that the information is useful. The biggest issue is trying to determine the time frame and what can be done. Both very hard to answer.

Pink Grandma,

They are getting there. The adjustment is difficult at times for me due to the relationship I had with dad. He was a great sounding board and always very level headed. That is not easily going to be replaced.

The kids miss him but they understand and are happy. Mum is making the adjustment but after 40 years together, as expected, that will take time.
