Hello everyone, I know its been a long time since I have posted. Really don't have a good excuse. I just wanted to let you all know Jerry is doing good. Its been a tough road but well worth it. Its been 5 months since his transplant. Believe it or not there have been times after the transplant that seems much more difficult then prior. I think the reason for that is you get your hopes up that once you get the transplant everything will be great. Not so. You still have a lot of the symptoms you had prior plus the new ones from the medication. That just about
drove us both crazy. The only reason I'm posting this is when we were waiting for three years for the transplant I depended on this forum to get me through the tough times (which it did) but also I wanted so badly to hear from someone to post that had their transplant. So now I feel like I should be doing the same thing. If there is any of you wondering what its like post transplant I will do my best to post some info. Now that we are 5 months out our lives are starting to get back to normal. LIttle things that I didn't think of when he was sick. I just knew I was exhausted. He now can take out the garbage! Also DRIVING OMG I couldn't wait for that. He had amonia problems so often I've considered having a little get together of all the ambulance drivers and police I had here to help me get him to the hospital. And all the Dr. and nurses that have been so wonderful. And of course the Donor. We know nothing. In a few more months we will be able to write a letter. I just want to hug the family. How do you thank someone for such a gift. A little funny is Jerry had grey hair when he got sick (57 yrs old). Well, he is resembling Elvis more every day. His hair on his head and all his body hair (prior to being sick he had a lot but lost most of it) is coming back in Jet Black!!! We are all getting a charge out of that including the Dr. I think of all you often. I'm a little sad I don't know the new people so I need to get with the program and read the old posts. I still see some familiar names. I sure do miss John. I keep thinking some day we will hear from him. Would that be a nice surprise.
Keep the Faith, Jerry is living proof there are better times ahead.
