Hello. It has been awhile since I posted last, but haven't had much to report. My brother finally started the pre liver transplant evaluation process. In the last few weeks he has had a Stress test, Cardiac Echo, Endoscopy, Ekg, Pulmonary, Ultrasound, CT Scan (I think there were more but can't remember). The cardiologist gave him a clean bill of health for the heart (he had 4 stints 3 years ago). The Hepatologist said he saw spots on his liver and pancreas and wants to do an MRI (to be scheduled).
We go see the hepatologist's assistant next Tuesday. I am assuming to go over the results of the tests and the next course of action.
My brother hasn't drank since September and is taking an active role in his care. He is starting to look jaundiced again and retaining water in his belly and ankles. He gets very tired and has some concentration issues. But all in all, doing pretty well. Oh yea, he finally kicked his deadbeat girlfriend (of 7 years) out. She was still drinking and taking no interest in helping him with food, medicines, appointments or just plain ol emotional support.
He is still waiting to hear about Medicaid and SSI. We filled out the papers for Medicaid at our local Job and Family services and they closed the case because the hospital didn't send the paperwork in 30 days. They only leave it open 30 days then they deny it and you have to refile. grrrrrrrr. If it is determined he has to have a liver transplant he can't get on the list until he has insurance.
I am just happy to be doing something to move forward.
Thanks for listening.
