With ESLD, if they're not blowing up with fluid, they are losing weight.

Well we had our doctors appointment. Went well we have kept the blood surgars under control so well we got thumbs up. We check liver labs the 28th of this month. Does anyone have suggestions of turning off the caregiver.

What makes them lose the weight sooo fast

Sometimes the appetite is affected and they are not taking in enough calories. Weight loss can also be caused by muscle loss from liver disease (muscle weighs more than fat.) What does her doctor say?

I'm glad to hear that her blood sugars are under control. That's really important. Let us know the results of the blood work after it's done.

Well she been eating pretty good due to me fixing her meals or bring food from work and she is doing low impact exercise. She tires easy but she does them. Her doctor thinks fluild I'm just not sure I agree. But she is happy and says I haven't been this skinny forever.haha Anyway I was just worndering about it.

Well mom has the blood work done today and we will know the results in a few days. They did call and are giving her lower dose of thyriod meds. She is still losing wieght. This is going to sound wierd its like she is getting better as far as her other health problems. Her diabetis,thyriod,wieght is getting better.

She had her 74th birthday july 17 and we had a party for 2 days with family coming in to see her. She seem to have tons of fun.

Eating a better diet can really make a difference in one's health, too. Glad she had a good b.d.

She is supposed to use a c-pap (I dont believe I mentioned she had a sleep study). She doesnt like it but she is trying to use it. I mostly just her control the things that wont hurt her.I am not convinced she actually needs one but I am not a doctor. And she says she not sure it helps. She says she cant sleep with it but when I check she is asleep hehehehe. She can make me laugh at times. And her blood work was good for her so she is still doing good.

Pug, C-PAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure and is usually prescribed for sleep apnea in which a person stops breathing for periods of time.  It's good if she will use it, as the sleep study must have indicated she was having apnea.

Using the CPAP machine can lessen confusion... due to getting the brain chemicals all rejuvenated ...

I'm sure it must be difficult getting comfortable with that contraption on your face, but as you said...she does sleep.  smilewinkgrin

That must be the contraption that one of my nephews uses. The first time I saw it on him I thought ( What the heck?) He told me he had to sleep with it on. He did say it was for sleep apnea. He got use to it and ended up being able to sleep like a baby with it on. Maybe your mom just thinks she isn't sleeping much because she hasn't got use to it yet. confused

I dont think she does know she is sleeping. At least she keeps trying. I was listening to people talking about their parent dying and wanted to say something but I know better. Iknow at times a person needs to do certain things but I myself think at times you just need to enjoy our loved ones while we can.

She is still feeling good about getting skinny. She doesn't want to discuss anything about her liver I just let her have fun and talk about her numbers and her mom and dad. letting her babysit my dogs(they are well trained she lets them in and out during the day while I am at work) and my daughter watches mom. It's kinda funny when I am writing it all out. My aunt and uncle live acrossed the street from me and she does wander over there in the morning to have coffee .I live in a very small town where I know almost everyone or I am related to them so they all watch for her and my daughter.

Yes but at times it can drive you nuts having everyone around all the time. But at other times it can really nice.

Well her ammonia level was 42 doc did up latulose just a little. Her thyriod meds was changed to a lower dose. And everything else was stable not normal but stable. She doesn't want to spend her time always at the hospital so she only has to go every 3 months and labs at that time. She seems happy still and is still working her numbers and puzzles. She is going about her busy self.

Also she has seen everyone but her oldest and youngest kids but has talk to them on the phone.
