my brother has hepatitis C, ESLD, portal hypertension and ascites...what are the options?

what would our options be if they do an MRI and find it has spread to other organs?

I'm glad he was able to finally get to sleep.

I no longer have ascites and have never been drained. I do know that it is hard on the kidneys and should not be done too often.

Hope you are able to get some sleep yourself.  Don't forget to take care of yourself, too.

my brother died on the 25th of August. He started getting more agitated and trying to pull off the oxygen mask n iv etc. he had a lil blood in his mouth. we moved him to the icu in a neighbouring hospital. they tried to flush him and stuff. but they said his condition was deteriorating fast.
and on the 2nd day after we moved him to the icu he died.

feel so terrible and inept. like we didn't do somethings properly or in time. all of you take care and hope life works out well for you. my best wishes and a million hugs for being there for me(and him) through this terrible time. you all kept me positive and i was able to be a loving, caring and positive caretaker. god bless his soul and all of you.

Mybrother, I am so very sorry to hear of your brother's passing. Please don't feel guilty in any way. You did what you could with the information that was available. Some people do not have symptoms until it is basically too late...or they ignore the symptoms.

I am a late comer here and also new to the forum. I too felt helpless but being in from have given strength to know all about cirrhosis. I am chronic cirrhosis patient. I live in Bangladesh, right beside india. Me feelings and heartiest well wish goes with your brother. I know the stress you are going through as i can see it in my relatives eyes.
Can you please tell me at which hospital you are diagnosing him, under which doctor. As I do have plan to see aoctor in India, I have heard Medanta Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine in this link http://www.livertransplantindia.com/liver-transplant-hospital.asp, where i may like to meet Dr. A.S. Soin. I dont which city or hospital have the most advanced experienced doctor and hospital. It would be most helpful if you put some light.I will be reading your story and be with your brother and stay with me too.

Rupok, in case you didn't notice the above posts, the poster's brother passed away.  Apparently, he got treated too late.  I don't know if the poster will come back here again or not, and unfortunately he did not list an e-mail address.
