Bleave, did you read or hear about the man who turned permanently blue from taking colloidal silver? It's a dangerous substance. As for milk thistle, I only took it for a short time in '93 after I was first diagnosed with hep C. It gave me diarrhea and burned my bottom, so I stopped taking it. It also had not reduced my liver enzymes in the time I took it. However, some have positive results from it and my hepatologist said it couldn't hurt. However, I opted not to try it again. These over-the-counter supplements are not cleared by the FDA and sometimes contain harmful substances.
I was excited about the new treatment in the beginning, as my hepatologist told me it only had to be taken for 24 weeks instead of 48. However, they are now saying if a patient is responding to it, they want it to be taken for 48 weeks to decrease the chance of relapse. I don't know if I'll be able to handle it. I'll know more when I go for my 6-month blood work, MRI, and follow-up visit in Dec.
Hugs,
Connie
