Cindy, are you sure it's not CHF...congestive heart failure?
If she's running a fever, it sounds more like an infection. Is she on Xifaxan? I actually had liver cancer. I also have cirrhosis, but never thought of the cirrhosis causing the cancer...more that it was caused by hep C, as I know that having hep C puts one at high risk for hepatocellular carcinoma or HCC. I did not run a fever at all. I had loss of appetite for several weeks after having chemoembolization. I had no symptoms at all of cancer. It was diagnosed when I had my regular annual sonogram of the liver...and at that point the tumor was 12 cm x 11.5 cm. I honestly think they missed it the previous year.
If the fever has developed since her last hospital discharge, it is more likely that she picked up an infection while hospitalized. You should contact her doctor about this as a fever is never "normal."
Hugs,
Connie
