A transplant program (regardless of organ) must be Medicare Certified.  Medicare requires a program to perform a number of transplants with a follow-up of no less than one year to evaluate the program for approval.  They look at the outcome of the transplant and adherence to the strict regulations set by United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (cms) in the daily management of activities, patient evaluation, listing, documentation, etc.

 

I'm having trouble posting the revised list.  Please note that the original list that was posted includes transplants of all kinds.  Many of the centers listed previsously do not perform liver transplants.  I'll keep trying to post the new list.  In the meantime, you can access the list on the Medicare Website at the following link.  This is a PDF file, so I cannot copy and paste it.  It is broken down by organ begining with Heart transplants.  Scroll down to the Liver section to determine which centers are approved to perform liver transplants.  You will still need to check with the center to verify.  So programs may become inactive.
