New problem, any ideas?

I'm not sure if you remember but a couple of weeks back, my husband had a bout of diarrhea that lasted for 3 or 4 days, couldn't eat much etc...But, then he got better....Now it's back....He is having lower abdominal pain, yellow diarrhea stools and can't hold them well when he has to go. Also says back is hurting and can't eat much. The belly has grown yet again and looks even bigger than his previous 9 mo triplets hatching.......We went by Dr. office yesterday and they drew his blood. We have an appt thursday afternoon but I'm hoping to hear something from the Dr. today or tomorrow if its serious. Hubby just says, "my stomache just doesn't feel right" and he has gotten awful quiet and pale looking. I have of course researched "everything" on the internet to see what might be causing it, of course other than the obvious problem of cirrhosis. What I am coming across the most is either SBP or some type of intestinal infection, OR, a bile duct obstruction which could be causing the yellow diarrhea. Anybody else out there ever had this, or similar? The internet drives me crazy and I certainly don't need to be pushed into that arena anymore! Ha! And yes, he's still drinking.....says the whiskey makes the stomach pain go away.............................I feel like taking my wedding ring and wrapping it around the neck of the bottle and pronounce THEM man and wife!.........Anyway, worried and needed to gripe at the same time! SW, yes, it could be a bile duct problem...or diverticulitis...or....  The only way to find out is with a colonoscopy (to rule out intestinal problems) or an MRI to check for liver cancer or something else else lurking on the inside.  Bile problems do seem to go along with ESLD.

You'll probably just need to wait until he collapses and goes to the ER to find out what is really going on.  Or maybe the doctor can tell you something on Thurs.  Let us know!

Doug had a similar issue and the color was due to ESLD but the chronic diarreha we never figured out so I put him on acidolpholis and it worked after about 2-3 days. He stayed on it to maintaqqin the good flora needed to help with digestion as all the meds were destroying that. Whenever he stayed in hospital they had a stock of it also so he never missed a dose. Dr said he wouldnt be able to use it post transplant because of the immune suppressants. If you buy it you need the super potent one and start with 4 a day when everything gets more normal one a day is good. It also helps to keep yeast and UTIs in check. They also use it for cancer patients as treatment kills of the good flora that we need to keep a healthy balance. Also recomended when on antibiotics, especially for women to prevent yeast infections.

Mary, I actually have kinfolk in Michigan on my Dad's side of the family....can't remember what town, I'll have to ask my mom..Regardless of where we live, it's amazing how we can connect here. I love it!
Goddess, I'm so sorry about your husband. My heart goes out to you...I'm not there yet but I'm afraid it's just a matter of time......I'll say a prayer for you to be strong!
Rick, your knowledge is amazing....I read your posts all the time and have to wonder if God didn't put you here just for us! Everything we go through is part of your past. Has to be a little weird for you sometimes I bet thinking back to where you were...And yes, mine is close to deaths door if he doesnt' decide to change and even then don't know if it's going to be in time....We have a Dr. appt today at 3:30 so I'll know more about the recent lab work then...

Just want to let you all know, after reading this whole page of all of your suffering Husbands, and Rick, WOW, you look great compared to when you were diagnosed for death.
My husband just got done taking the Inferun Medication that kills the Hep. C in your body. He was on it for 6 months, and now he does not have Hep. anymore in his blood. It was literally hell for him to go through the treatment though, but, I am sure it is a hell of alot easier than what I have read about what your husbands are going through now.
I hope I am not speaking out of line here. You all are in a much different state that I have been going through with my husband. God Bless you women!! I will pray that you have the strength to live day to day with all the pain and suffering you are going through, watching your best friends waste away. There is medication out there that will kill the Hep. But, I do not know if your husbands could even make it through the treatment. I don't even know if it is for what your husbands have.
