Got Biopsy Today

Wasn't bad.  Kind of felt like a quick jab to the side, no sharp pain.  Have a bad feeling the results will be much worse than the procedure itself.  Should get them by June 14th.  Don't know how I'm going to wait that long.  I am very anxious!!!

Woody, so glad to hear you had your biopsy and that it wasn't bad.  I know that impatient feeling of waiting for results.  I think I had mine in about a week after the first biopsy I had done (2nd one was in the hospital.)  Try your best to get your mind off of it and focus on other things...have some R&R.  But be sure to post when you get your results.

Thanks Connie. I will try my best but it always seems to pop up. Even alcohol tv ads make me think about it. Ever realize just how many commercials have alcohol in them these days!!!

You were awake? Wow - I told them that I was manic depressive with violent tendencies on the check in sheets, and they knocked me out. I woke up in recovery.
It is a done deal now Woody, good luck with the results! Hey - look at it like this - now you will know where the starting point is! Either way.

Woody, I hope you get positive results. I hate waiting for test results of any kind and every time my husband has tests the waiting is the worst part. He thus far has only had a stomach biopsy, I guess because the Doc wanted to see if there was anything additional going on in there. We always expect the worst, but hope for the best. Connie is right, try your best to get involved in something else that will keep you busy and maybe the time was pass quickly.

Hope that you get just good news.

Are you usually asleep during the biopsy's ?

I was wide awake and just got something to numb the skin. It was easy but the worst part was having to lay still on your side for so long.

Woody, when I first got sober, the ads would jump out at me.  The bottles would jump off the shelves in the grocery store.  Everywhere I looked there was alcohol.  You are just more attuned to it.  That goes away after a year or so...though I still don't stand and browse the wine or beer aisles...I zip right past.

Isergodur, they don't generally give you anything except a local anesthetic where the needle will go.  The first time, I was a nervous wreck and also had a bad experience (lots of pain.)  The second one, I was under general anesthesia for my rt. lobectomy, so didn't even know that they had biopsied the left lobe until I read the operative report sometime later.

Jim's creative way of handling this wouldn't go over at Mayo ,where I get all my care, as they have all my drugs on file, plus everything else about me.

Woody-I hope you get wonderful results from the biopsy and that you are also able to get your mind off it during the waiting. I know it will be hard to wait...

I agree with you about the alcohol ads. My son told me that the ads aren't allowed to show people drinking...I hadn't noticed that and will be paying more attention. I also notice how much alcohol is in movies. People having fun drinking. Well, we had fun, but the fun sure stops when your liver is damaged. I hate it. I am hoping like Connie said that after a year or so I won't be as sensitive to it. I know in the grocery store I also try to go by the liquor isle really fast. I also have noticed that there are usually big fancy vodka displays on the end caps...and vodka was the poison of choice for hubby and I...but I find myself making an icky face and hissing sound when I pass those vodka displays. The thought of vodka makes me so mad.

I will send you positive thoughts for a good biopsy.
