In her book, Hepatitis & Liver Disease, Dr. Melissa Palmer states that "fulminant hepatitis is a particularly serious, potentially fatal form of acute hepatitis associated with jaundice, coagulopathy, and encephalopathy. In these people, liver failure generally occurs abruptly, usually within eight weeks of the onset of symptoms." She states that hepatitis E is similar to hepatitis A.
I can't answer your question about the leg pain, but since there are coagulation problems with fulminant hep, you need to be wary of possible clots or other blood vessel problems.
