Thanks guys ...just hoping everyday he gets a little better ..then liver doc said he will probably have a small window of opportunity for transplant ..so I pray everything works. Out!

Thanks Emma .....they were able to take him off sedation all day ..its been a week ...but by evening he bit the tube and they had to re inubate him. They said he might be able to be put back on bi pap tomorrow .....poor baby wants to talk So bad

Elle, just to be clear, what tube did he bite?  Sorry he had to be reintubated, but he seems to be stabilizing otherwise.  He will probably have a sore throat when they finally extubate him.  I was intubated once in my life--at a time other than surgery--when my throat was really painful afterwards and I was given some type of gel that I could swallow that anesthesized my throat.  But that was over 40 yrs. ago.

He bit the tube that was called the inflate pump its smaller and has something to do with the pressure of oxygen he get ....he's not a Happy camper as they have his hands tied down ...dialysis coming out of one neck ...center line out the other side ......a Aline on his arm ..breathing and feeding tube down his mouth ...wound vac hooked to his leg and Thor crazy pressure boots connected to his feet ..he kept mouthing help me ....poor baby I feel so so for him and they will unsedate him again today and possible take out the tubes ...I know all these things are necessary but it looks so uncomfortable ....and yes Connie before his throat was sore ..but I remember him eating alot of ice .....hopefully today comes with good news

One good thing--he likely won't remember this part. Mike doesn't believe us about being restrained and looking at us frantically whispering help and water.

I hope when they reduce sedation hes oxygen is good enough he can go back to a less drastic measure soon

Here's hoping that he will soon be unhooked from some of that stuff. ML is right, though: He is unlikely to remember this, though I know it's hard for you to see him like this.

Well he is on dialysis for 12 hours of the day not 24 anymore. Bit they changed out all his lines because he now has bacterial in blood stream and wont new a candidate for a liver til he gets rid of infection and off antibiotics ...his breathing has improved so the breathing tube might come out today or tomorrow ..so a little positive ..little negative

The blood infection is sepsis and can be very serious. But he's in the right place and hopefully antibiotics will clear it up quickly. That's some good news about dialysis being decreased and also the possibility of his being extubated soon.

Well this is a new infection ... but they took tube out ;) he can talk ..still little confused but it's progress. ;) hopefully he can keep fighting

Quick update......so tired ..long night. And day. Last night he was paranoid. And little better today still not totally with it and weak. He hasn't slept in 37 hours I think he tis afraid to. He is running fever and still has infection. His meld score is 38 . Doc ask today if there was any more family that was coming ..I was like this is it me and his sis ..makes me worry ..hope all is well with everyone else

Poor Guy its been 57 hours and he still wont sleep. They did ultrasound of his heart And doing cat scan pretty much of his whole body. .he really isn't able to speak much ..maybe from lack of sleep ..hopefully tomorrow is better

Elle, can't they give him something to help him sleep? Not to knock him out, but to relax him enough that he will be able to sleep? That long without sleep can cause paranoia and sometimes hallucinations. Are the doctors aware of his lack of sleep? I've had periods in my life where I couldn't sleep for a couple of days. I was told that "nobody ever died from lack of sleep." Maybe so, but it sure does mess with the mind.
