Sunday 9/11.
I almost don't want to post today, as the day is almost sacred...watching TV...so sad. We were out of the country 9/11, in Ireland, and couldn't get back...at first we thought we wouldn't get back, period...that a war had begun and we'd be stuck for the duration.
But home we came 9/27...many days delayed, to Atlanta...but on the correct side of the Atlantic at last, so we didn't mind! We'd flown out of JFK and there was no flying in there...we were as glad not to!
We are home today. They discharged him from Jackson Saturday afternoon and he is plenty tuckered out. The new med regime seem to have him stable...lower antirejection meds, etc.
His blood tests Friday show better kidney function and his lfts are more normal, but for the GGTP, which I don't know much about. It was over 700 until yesterday when he was at 485. Reference range is 15-73, so this was plenty out of range! Alk Phos is out of range also, over 200.
What worries me also is his WBC and RBC, H&H are real low. They gave him some neupegen by injection in the hospital so the WBCs rebounded a bit. But not the reds.
The Attending on Saturday didn't want him to leave. It was his first rotation on the case as the doc all week had the weekend off. And there were enough things worrying the new guy that he wished Mike would stay...but he consented reluctantly with the treatment plan in place.
Mike will have a pulmonary function test as an outpatient and the transplant coordinator will let us know how often they want blood work done. We expect to be driving down this week maybe Wednesday or Thursday.
So..that's the saga. Mike is asleep on the couch...no change there. He is still sleeping the days and nights away. But he seems to be in less mouth pain and has been eating small meals.
He lost about 10 lbs since 8/14.
