AIH, sensation of body vibrating, nausea, blurred vision, tremors

Hi--

I have been having some weird spells lately and wondered if this is part of my liver diseases--PBC and some type of AIH to be determined.  I have had spells with sensations of my body or part of my body, an arm or leg, vibrating. Its sort of like when your leg falls asleep but with hard regular vibration like it fell asleep on top of the washer.  I woke up with my whole body in this state and it was frightening. I didn't know whether I was going to stop breathing and go totally numb or something.  I laid there until it went away.  Going to sleep, a leg or arm will do this.  Or sitting in a chair it can happen.  It is like I'm being shook and it actually makes me sick to my stomach.  It doesn't last long.  I've been having some tremors along with it.

My son said he had this (he has epilepsy) when one of his epilepsy medicines was affecting how much oxygen he had in his blood somehow--I think it was low blood pressure or something. 

Taking a breathing tx made me shaky afterward, but that usually happens.

Going to the doc doesn't seem to help much anymore as I have too much wrong. We just talk in circles and no help is given.  Also, I am having a short sudden blurrines with my vision when this happens, it goes white/cloudy.

Has anyone had this kind of feeling?  I am going to the eye doctor for a checkup soon and my blood sugar is really good now.  I am just falling apart since my AMA went positive.

Hi, Marji.  Sorry to hear of your recent problems.  I know that Dany is away today, but she may check in tonight.  She will definitely be here within a day or so.  She's really the one with the knowledge in this area, but perhaps another poster can give you some suggestions, too.

Hi Marji!

Long time no speak!  I get the muscle twitches in various places.  I also get a weird flutter like a vibration in my lower abdomen.  Which meds are you on?  Electrolyte imbalance and vitamin imbalances can lead to odd twitching.  Next time you're at the doc...or if you call and explain the very odd twitching, you can ask them to have your salts checked (which should come up on your CBC/CMP blood labs) as well as your vitamin levels.  When are your next labs scheduled?

Thanks so much! Well, its not just me then. My electrolytes are always out of whack because I need to take HCTZ a thiazide diuretic that lowers your potassium. Tried lasix and started to go deaf, off and on complete hearing loss, within a week and I guess I got really anxious and out of sorts, don't recall anything but not hearing. Maybe just as well I couldn't hear.

I got some labs done fairly recently and have a slip to get some more then end of oct. I have rx potassium to take. I think I may have been fighting getting a cold and with me these days any symptom can happen with that. I have some painful bouts of diarrhea every day when my first dose of urso wears off. I end up taking questran about once a week for that but then that works too well and it undoes what the urso does. But that maybe why my electrolytes are extra bad now. Gi couldn't find anything wrong. Does questran undo the urso? I take it at least four hours after last dose and try to hold out for once a week or more if possible. Any way to prevent that?

I'll get some gatorade too and call the doc back. The thing is scary when it happens, it doesn't last long, but I feel like I have ms or something, I feel out of it. Got an eye appt coming up so that will help too. I can't remember if it happens around when I take the potassium or not. My doc upped my glucophage, thought it might be related. My vision is worse, but the vibrating hasn't happened again so far so good.

Sorry for not checking in yesterday.  I live in San Diego and y'all might have heard about our little black out!  Our area came back on at 10:30pm so I was impressed!  Had trouble finding gas and had about half a gallon left so managed to make it to Costco this morning (I LOVE THAT PLACE)!!  They have separate emergency power so their pumps still worked...even AAA was out for gas delivery, they were conserving all their gas for the tow trucks.  Even though our neighborhood came back our Shell station is still not functioning.  Anyway, still had to go to work today then had to go to family counseling with my crazy ex-husband and my daughter....ended up crazier than I thought (not me! tongue )...so I'm gonna chill and not use my mad Google skills or my brain for a bit but I'll look into what you brought up, Marji.  I shall escape into my book although I'm not sure I want to read the one I just started...it's kinda deep, maybe I'll look for something lighter in the house I haven't gotten to.  You know the whole trying not to be stressed out when you have an autoimmune disease thing...I've been working on clearing my mind all day, even took half a xanax before the appointment...a book and coffee...that'll make me happy smilewinkgrin

Sorry for the minor vent but that's why I have been and will be in cognito for another day!

They say it was caused by an employee changing out some equipment.   Was only supposed to take down a smaller area for a few minutes......instead the South West part of the US and even part of Mexico was affected by it or other devices failing.

Apparently Homer Simpson was working out in Arizona that day!  They did repair it and get electricity back way quicker than they initially thought so I am impressed.  Everyone's human but it did cause a lot of trouble with traffic and no gas available since all the pumps are electric nono

Marji,

So I couldn't find a drug interaction between Urso and Questran.  However there's a moderate interaction between Questran and Lasix, Klonopin and Albuterol...all of which you are on.  I didn't check your full list of meds, figured it was enough to know that it's the Questran that might be causing your side effects.  I'm guessing from how you wrote your post that you don't take the Questran regularly?  How much Urso are you on and do you take it 2 or 3 times a day?

thanks for that. I don't take lasix anymore, but take Klonopin, late at night before bed a few hours after my second and last dose of Urso with dinner. I had a weird reaction to my nebulizer so I will have to be careful, wow, how do I work that out?

The questran for me is prn, it is a bile acid binder. I read somewhere but I can't remember where to take it four hours after the urso, maybe on the questran leaflet, maybe not for urso but for one of my other meds. Questran binds with other meds too I guess so that one I have to take at a different time. If I have to take it, I take it at lunch. I take urso twice, with breakfast and dinner.

Yeah med scheduling is getting tricky nowadays. Used to be I just had to regulate my body's water, thyroid hormone, and sugar, now its bile too. Geez.
