My husband , age 65, cut down his drinking 4 years ago after a fainting spell that we thought maybe his blood pressure medicine caused. He had then been drinking a lot of cheap vodka and other liquor heavily for the previous 35 years. In the last four years he started drinking maybe 3 times a month with the socializing situations, and no longer at home alone. Over the Holidays in Dec. He had had maybe 2 oz of vodka and 5 glasses of wine. He then suddenly became violently I'll. His symptoms were, irregular heartbeat, high AST , jaundice, severe abdominal pain, vommiting uncontrollably and then dry heaving as he couldn't eat. Blood pressure raised, potassium low, chills and cold sweats. He stayed pretty sick for about two weeks, was in Er three times. Because we were out of state we just wanted to get home to his gp . When we returned his blood tests now showed slight elevation in alt, mild rise in bilirubin and slight low lymphocytes, slight high in neutrophils abs. For the last two weeks he has had normal, but continuous bowl movements happening. We have an HMO and they are dragging their feet, they said his ultrasound of his liver did not look to bad, possibly some fatty liver, the dr then said the ultrasound was not real easy to read. I was with him and I saw on the ultrasound what appeared to be a fluid filled cyst, about 4cm, she did not mention this. Also, 3 years ago on another vacation he had an all over body rash. That was never diagnosed by the Er in Colorado or his own dr. He has also had psoriasis for nuMerous years. He sees No Color, so I can never be sure about bowel movement color. It's a rare condition he's had since birth. Should I be worried, could it be a beginning fatty liver stage, Help
