Hep C Treatments

It's situational depression, which I'm familiar with personally but don't take anything for it. I find the doctor's attitude rather strange, since usually patients are prescribed antidepressants even before starting treatment. But since it's a new treatment, perhaps they don't want to add anything that might interfere with its effectiveness.

I have just completed the 12 week study with the Pharmassett 7977, and Rib. - no injections. I had very light side effects with nausea, and I got fat. But that was it. I have been off the meds now for almost a week, and I have had my first wake-up feeling refreshed since I was a teenager.
My VL was 981,000 ppm to start, week 2 it was 134ppm, and week 3 less than detectable. It must have been worse for the others as I was the only one to make it thru the study. I had high BP, but was able to keep it down by meditation, and looking to the fact that it was only 12 weeks. The wait was worth the cure.
The final study (3rd) is starting in June, and FDA approval is highly likely. They are looking now to start screening - so ask your Dr. about if it might be something that you could do.
You read about not knowing how sick you are until you aren't - it's true. I will pray for you.

hey connie, i saw your response to pinhead. did you mean 7977+ rib wiil be available at the year end or soon after. that would help with my anxiety over  being undetectable at week#4 on my therapy(3 drug combo). my viral load was 20 million.      barry

I have been off now for 4 days, and I go back March 8th - but was also told that to date they have had NO virus returning with this 7977. Done is done.

Yes, I am still fat, I promised the Dr. that if I was cured that I would get my waist under 40. Never thought I would really have to - but I can start exercise after day 10. Trust me - I get winded with a walk around the block, and exercise will be a welcome thing. Main thing is watching my BP come down.

I'll be interested in knowing your VL when you get it. Your elevated bili could be related to bile ducts. Ask your dr. about it.

My understanding is that cortisone is injected at the site of pain. Other than your hip, is your arthritis localized to one area?
Some people say these injections work for them, while others say they make no difference. You would have to try it to know which group you fall into. Everyone is different in how drugs affect them, so it's difficult to say if one would work better than another.

Yes, with an undetectable viral load, you would have more energy. The first and primary symptom of hep C is fatigue. I've heard that side effects from treatment last awhile, so you may not feel 100% for several months after treatment ends. You've done so well thus far, though, that you may be the exception.

hi guys. boy am i confused. everybody in the medical field agrees that a anti depressant would be benificial to me. i saw a psychiatrist yesterday who rxed zoloft 25 mg and work up to 50. he also stated there are no liver or kidney issues and no interactions with tx. i google everything and more than one website listed liver issues. i would like to know from anyone with knowledge what anti dep. drugs they were rxed for hep c treatment. other than that i am doing fine. anemia is only real concern.  someone please help with this. i called dr yesterday, and is out of town  ppmguy

Connie, why do you think ppm guy is considered SVR? undetected during treatment is not SVR.
