KayEllen,
Sorry to hear about your painful experience. I hate when I go to the hospital and get a service done and they have a medical student perform the procedure. In my case, it was a stomach Paracentisis and an other time, a rear Paracentisis because of fluid under my right lung in the plueral space. Not saying your Radiologist was a med student but sometimes that is what you get.
Like notgivingup my biopsy was done during Gall Bladder surgery and had no problem. Just a little sore for a few days afterward. Unlike you my diagnosis was worse. The doc told me I had cirrhosis, a decompensated liver or ESLD. You are lucky you got pain meds because the doc's do not like prescribing narcotics because they can be toxic to the liver. I had to pull my PCP's teeth just to get a few sleeping pills because of anxiety. He gave me 10, 1 mg. Lorazepam and I see him every 6 months.
Like David says they forewarn you before the procedure and have you sign off to an agreement to cover themselves. Same with prescription, if you look at the side effects of prescription meds they list every possible side effect you could have on every drug you take.
You must be pretty pissed off at the Radiologist. I had Hep C for over 20 years and was asymptomatic before my gall bladder surgery and did not take any prescription meds. The surgery was done because of gallstones caused from Hep C. My doc said it was a routine surgery and I should get it done because of complications later on in life. After the surgery I became symptomatic and had a terrible time with fluid retention for over 8 months. Now I take many meds and I was very pissed off at my doc. Should have cancelled that surgery when the chance was there.
