new memmber really hard to handle

i am new to this forum.my mom she has hep c with liver cirrhosis.we went to hosplital for several time .long story. my mom was doing good for couple of years but since sep 2011 she was not doing good at  all. our last trip to hospital when her hemoglobin dropped to 44 .she got 6 times blood tranfusions in last 3 months. now doctors told me that she is end stage of liver faliure.she is taking 2 times lactulose. and in the morning 2 water pills. 2 months before she got high levels of ammonia with  great confusion. on our every trip to hospital doctor told me that might be this time she s,nt gonna make it. but every time by the grace of God she escaped. it was really scary.but now ahhh   hospital doctors declare her as last  time. and just pain killers to make her comfortable. they asked me about hospice but i want to keep her with me.but now i feel so sad.she is at this point her belley is so big due to ascites .they can,t do the paracenthesis as her i.n.r is 3.2.at this point people has no appetite but she is giving me so hard time she want to eat 2 fried eggs with butter ,halfn half cream.fried chicken wings .and salty potatoes.nurse told me to fulfill her wishes in small portion.but my question is that will it be good for her ?as it will bring more complications.she already having so much abdominal and knee pain.i am the one who has to take careof her. its her ammonia or i don,t know what it is? she is so weak,all day i have to help her and this new thing start up since yeasterday.

So so sorry your Mom is so ill. My hubby has end stage liver failure too. In the past he was diabetic with high blood pressure so we watched his diet really carefully. It has been a year and his Dr. only gave him about 3 months to live. I am letting him eat whatever he wants at this point, as his life is so limited. Is it good for him?....well, now it is all about quality of life for him. He choose not to get a liver transplant, so we are just trying to keep his quality of life as high as possible.
I took care of him for 10 months and I know what a really hard job you have. I send you strength to do this job of caretaking. It is really a tough one with someone you love so much to watch them suffer. But, it must be great comfort for your Mom to know that you are there for her.

hello and thanks to all who replird my post. yes that,s true very hard to handle.but finally she won . i gave her bar b.q chicken wing with fried eggs. after that she was so tried and feeling weakness. ya doctor has given in written about her disease.at hospital they asked me about hospice. but mom doesn,nt want to see them. right now i just have psw who came for help me in her shower. rest of all the stuff i have to do. infact i don,t mind helping her in washing ,food,all other stuff etc.but when it comes to her mood and her ammonia level ,then i really don,t know how to calm her down.she feels nause but she doesn,t want any medicine.her liver cirrhosis is due to hep c.she never drink . no she is not candidate for liver transplant.i have another question whenever she sits  in the washroom she feel extreme pain ,she screams.but i just have to watch and bear the grief,she sleeps 15 hours from 24.today i asked her you want to goo to hospital again mught be they will give her strong medication  through i.v.but she refused. i quit my job.all day and night i spend with her.my mom is in denial she thinks she gonna be better.which is good orrrrrrr might be bad.

hello thsnks for your reply. her age is the factor .she is 74 and lots of complication with her blood work.no she is not constipated. infact she got dirrhea due to lactoluse or could be other reason.she got loose watery motions.no its personal support worker( psw)here in north america its a service provided to those pepole who comes at last stage of their lives where psw people can come and help you in bathing for 1 hour or 2 every day. but mom doesn.t want to see them everyday. she wants me to help her.today she was feeling extreme tiredness.hope things will better .but anyways thanks to everybody.
