After the dr appt today, the Transplant coordinator called, his MELD is 31.  She reminded us that we should be ready!!   I advised that we had even taken our stuff with us today, she seems very positive that we are very close.  The surgeons seem to be talking about us on a daily basis.....     the dr and the PA both stated today that we need a liver very soon!!!

Yes Debbie, the week with the girls was good for all of us!!!!   They seem a little more prepared for the transplant this time, if that is possible for children 8.5 and 10!   We will all get thru this, it just takes time!!!

Thanks for all the support, I will update as soon as we know anything else!

My dad went up to 29 yesterday. He's in icu. Praying they put him on the list.

Got the call been in pittsburgh since 10pm last nite. Donor in OR now!!! I will update later!!! Hope 3rd times the charm!

Amy, I'm having my tears for the good news about "the call."  Praying for healthy donor liver...and some extra prayers for the donor's generous family.

Keep us posted.  It could be hours and hours.

I just spoke with Amy, and John has been in surgery for over 4 hours. She is doing great . . very positive attitude . .. thrilled that John is finally getting his new liver and looking forward to better days ahead!!

He is still in the OR, he has had lots of bleeding due to the high INR, doc was out at 1230 & said hope to b done in 4-6 hours.

Liver transplant surgery makes for bleeding, as a liver contains almost 20% of ones blood at any time. When your liver is kaput, you bleed a lot. I've heard of transplants that needed over 20 units of blood.
